5. Make Notes Personal
With every note, address the giver by name and make your note personal. Mention what their gift was and hand-write each one (neatness is important). Even if you returned or didn’t really love the gift, or it arrived damaged, simply thank them for thinking of you. Any damage or returns should be arrainged strictly with the store.
Don’t print your notes on a computer or use pre-printed cards. After all, each of these people spent valuable time searching for the right gift. The least you can do is make their thank you note personal.
Thank them for the item and mention something such as, “we’ll think of you warmly every time we use it.” If someone gives cash, you don’t need to mention the amount, but thank them for their generosity and mention what you plan to use the money for.
