When you’re getting married, you have so much to plan and so many decisions to make. You often end up focusing on the organization of the whole thing: venues, flowers, food, wardrobes, transportation, music, and more. As fun and exciting as it is to plan your wedding, many of us have this desire to keep things simple. Big weddings are fun and memorable, but simple, small ceremonies can be, too. What if you want to keep it simple by getting married at home? Here are some tips to throw your own wedding at home.
1. Evaluate the Logistics
In order to determine if your home or property is large enough to host your wedding, you have to know if there’s room. You may need to prioritize which is more vital to you: the wedding’s location or the guest list. You may need to hold the wedding outside, bring in some outdoor canopies, or ask a friend or family member to host. If your guest numbers aren’t far off from your home’s capacity, you might need to trim your guest list down a little, if you can. Also, consider your number of guests and how much parking is available nearby. You may need permits, and you’ll definitely want to give your neighbors fair warning about the extra cars or noise.
